dddungu

The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) AGM held at Kati Kati restaurant on Saturday announced a decision which would have taken course a little earlier.

The banning of Rogers Kiyonga Ddungu affirms a fore sight of a better and much more organised UOC.

Credit on his positives although the bad side seems to out weigh his merits.

Having led a handful of sports disciplines in the country, his tenures often raised alarms and were only characterised with toxication.

From taekwondo, to boxing, to wrestling and weightlifting, Ddungu always notched the controversy spot and on many sensitive issues.

Ever since he became UOC president, the most decorated Olympic sport in the country suffered chaos which he often stirred and now, Uganda will not take boxers to London.

At the AGM, UOC’s William Blick revealed that Ddungu secretly opened up an account in London and he was swindling money from the International Olympic Comittee.

But better late than never! With now nearly 70 days to the summer games, eyes will shift back to London and concentrate on ending the 16-year medal drought.

If only sports leaders of Ddungu’s calibre were quickly dejected and evicted, then why not the AFCON, or the Africa Netball Championships. This country’s national anthem would be sang at many Olympic events.
