A hundred dollars will be given for every goal scored in season two of the Airtel Rising Stars soccer talent programme that will kick-off next month  in eight FUFA regions in the country.

The popular talent football searching tournament was officially launched this morning at Kibuli Secondary School by Airtel Uganda managing director VG. Somasekhar, FUFA’s vice president technical Livingstone Kyambadde, FUFA’s technical director Asuman Lubowa, MOES official Sammy Odong together with Airtel Rising stars ambasssdor Philip Obwiny.

“As a unique aspect of this year’s tournament,Airtel Uganda in an initiative Goal for Education will also be donating 100 US dollars for each goal scored at the national tournament to each team that will go a long way to facilitate football even when the tournament end,” VG. Somasekhar said.

“We decided to include the inter-country tournament this year to enable the youth in our markets to connect with each other – both culturally and through their passion for the the sport – using a common platform. We believe that this will have a long-term positive impact on the players and on the game.”

Similar to last year, the program will be organized in the format of regional and national tournaments, and will culminate in an exclusive football camp under the tutelage of professional coaching staff. However, this year will also include an exciting new inter-country tournament to be held in Nairobi,Kenya following the national tournaments.

The inter-country tournament will be held over a period of four days and will see the top girls and boys teamjs from each participating country compete against each other for the title of Airtel Rising Stars African champion.
