Dimension Data Rwenzori could end Uganda’s three year wait after the side beat two time Bamburi Super Series winning side 25-00 at Kampala Rugby Club this evening. Fred Mudoola’s troops had the belief that they would make it to the final and led the game 5-0 by half time. A Marvin Odong try counted. The charge could not end as Anthony Kinene scored a penalty minutes into the second half.
As if it was not over, Edmond Tumusiime added a drop goal that only surged hopes of a final. Tumusiime could not keep away from the lime light as he touched down to take Rwenzori to 18-0. Kinene missed a kick but all seemed unnoticed as Ambrose Kamanyiire added another try. Kinene made the conversion and Rwenzori only sealed a perfect finish. The road to the final of this tenth edition was as that for the Uganda franchise side.
In the other semifinal played in Nairobi, Rhinos edged Lions 20-19 in a thriller that enables them meet the Ugandan franchise in the final. The two finalists had earlier met with Rwenzori coming on top 17-15.
