Eagles fend off Angels, Canons streak checked on Suudi's return

Going into the eigth week of the 2012 FUBA League season, more astute minds had fathomed that Ndejje will top Eagles in the Friday night showdown at YMCA. This looked likely in the first two quarters as Ndejje (3-4) were up 21-13 on Eagles (2-5) in a low scoring game. Eagles came out strong in the final quarters, outscored Angels 34-25 to grind out a 47-46 win.
Suudi Ulanga was back on the UCU Canons’ team in the 71-75 loss to Falcons on Sunday night after sitting out for two games. The guard dropped game high 20 points for Canons (4-3) and center, Desmond Owili added 11 points and had 4 thwarts. Peter Elungat led Falcons with 16 points while big man Philp Ameny chipped in with 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Falcons (5-2) dominated the paint out-rebounding Canons 46-24.
Warriors increased their winning streak to seven after seeing off Nkumba Marines 74-62 on Sunday evenning. Brian Gumisiriza led the way for Warriors (7-0) with 15 points, Norman Blick picked up a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Syrus Kiviri added 13 points and 5 steals. John Chipungahelo scored game 18 points for Marines (2-5) and Wilson Atweyo chipped in with 15 points. Warriors played this game with slipperly hands and coughed up the ball 33 times, with Ronnie Kasewu turning it over 7 times, but out rebounded Nkumba 49-31.

Vegetarian edged Giant Stormers 47-45 in the battle of new comers led by Micheal Oling’s game high 14 points. Vegetarian (1-5) dominated the opening and final quarter to post their first win of the season. Giant Stormers did not make use of their possession even after outboarding Vegetarian 52-35, they still fell short.
KIU Titans exploded for 29 fourth quarter points to pin 39-71 loss to Heaters on Saturday night. The game was physical at the opening quarter and looked a match up but Titans (6-1) impossed their superiority down the stretch to hand Heaters (3-4) a fourth straight loss.
Defending champions DMark Power continued their quest for a sixth record title with an 80-56 blow out victory over Rez Life Saints who are yet to win a game this season.

Meanwhile in the womens division, Martha Soigi scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Joyce Zalwango added 17 points and swipped 10 steals to lead KCCA Leopards to a 95-16 win over MUK Cubs on Sunday morning at YMCA. Rachel Achieng and Ruthie Nakitto combined for 34 points to pace Nabisunsa to a 49-44 win over Crane High Ladies who were led by Ritah Imanishimwe’s game high 22 points. A1 Challenge beat Nkumba Lady Marines 44-20 powered by Vicky Ntale’s 10 points while Marion Ester scored 12 of Lady Marines total 20 points. Magic Stormers beat KIU Rangers on Friday evenning.
