Maroons FC has confirmed the sale of leading marks man George Abege and skipper Martin Mpuuga to newly promoted side Victoria University FC. According to supersport.com, the duo were to put pen to paper on Thursday this week but due to some delays at the University club, the duo will sign next week. Supersport.com further confirms that the two players were bought for a combined fee of $ 10,000 but personal details of the contracts were yet to be known by press time. However, unconfirmed reports indicate that Abege will be paid Shs 10m as sign on fee. The lanky striker has been a revelation this season scoring nine times in the league and also nominated in the Bell Uganda Super League MVP of the 2011/12 season.

Martin Mpuuga has also been as hard as rock in defence and his performances were eye catching to the extent that 2009 league Champions Bunamwaya SC has also been monitoring him seriously. The two will however be available for Maroons’ remaining league fixtures.

The duo join Ibrahim Saddam Juma on a list of the club’s new acquisitions who has also joined the club on a free transfer after his contract with Bunamwaya SC expired.

Sports ClubVictoria University announced it’s arrival on the scene as a wealthy and money spending side when they paid $ 10,000 to SC Villa for the services of Denis Guma who has been an influential player in their promotion to the top flight division.
