The past two meetings between Warriors and UCU Canons have probably been the most thrilling games in the recent history of local basketball.
The two games were in last season’s playoff semi-finals, game four and five, that ended in two over times and one over time respectively, Warriors winning both controversially.
The rivarly returns between the teams this evenning at YMCA
as they face off in Airtel National Basketball League. UCU have lost to three title hopefuls – Power, KIU and Falcons.
Warriors come off a loss against Power while Canons beat Rez Life. Centers Micheal Kariuki (Warriors) and Desmond Owili (Canons) come to the game with contrastings performances.
Kariuki had a poor shooting spell against Power while Owili had a big game against Rez Life. Both Norman Blick and Suudi Ulanga posted ugly performances in the last games.
Ivan Enabu may sit out of the game with (ankle problem).
Mandy Juruni was not happy about the performance against Power and the energy his players put in. “Our energy was bad and everything else” Juruni said. He therefore expects a response. Canons have been kept under 60 points only once this season and are 4-1 with more than 70 points.
