
The Lady Cranes under Coach Anthony Kinene will hope to come out victors in the Reunion invitational 7’s circuit in Saint-Denis, Reunion Islands on Saturday.
The team comprising 10 players, Kinene and Irene Namapii, the head of the delegation arrived on the islands on Monday morning for the games set for this Saturday.
“The atmosphere is okay here (Reunion)” Namapii disclosed to Kawowo Sports.
The side will be led by utility player Charlotte Mudoola as they seek to progress past the semifinals, where they were handed a narrow 17-14 loss to the French U-20 side.
Helen Buteme, reigning USPA rugby player of the year Asha Nakityo and Brenda Kayiyi will be instrumental in deciding the team’s fate.
The Lady Cranes were unscathed prior to the loss and will hope to push to the tourney’s edge.
Reunion, Mayotte, Nouvelle Caledonia and Madagascar are also in the battle for top honours.
The players will also aim to gain experience and shape for the World Cup qualifiers due Septmber in Morocco.
The trip was funded by Queen’s Coach and the Tag Rugby Trust body.
