Bunamwaya SC midfielder William Luwagga Kizito was delighted with winning the midfielder of the year award at yesterday’s occasion but feels he deserved more than that.
“I am happy for being recognized as the best midfielder in the league but i wish i felt i deserved more”, said Luwagga.
The dribbling maestro beat the likes of Villa’s Isaac Kirabira and URA FC’s Feni Ali Moses to the midfielder of the year gong but was beaten to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award to Uganda Cranes and URA FC forward Robert Ssentongo something he felt wasn’t fair but congratulated Robert.
“I think i also deserved the Footballer of the year award though congratulations to Robert. I scored 8 league goals and made 15 assists last season a feat i thought could lead me to the MVP but I promise to come back strong next year”, said Luwagga.
Kizito took the league by storm with his dazzling skills tearing defences and set up as well as created many goals for his club. His only mishap was that he didn’t win anything last season with his side ending up runners up on both fronts (League and Bell Uganda Cup).
The soft spoken star also gave hsi opinions on the categories insisting that Bengo Steven, Wadada Nicholas and Yasin Mugabi should have won the sponsors favorite player, best defender and goal keeper of the year awrds respectively but may be it was not meant to be.
On his next destination after his contract at Bunamwaya SC expired, Luwagga insisted he was still weighing his options.
