There is no denying the fact that Golola has brought the sport to the lime light.
Before he began his publicity stunts about his ability in the ring two years ago, Ugandans knew less about the sport.
“Golola Moses of Uganda” as he boastfully refers to himself even went on to invent slangs that have come to be associated with him. Terms like “am not a joking subject, am the only man who hangs my clothes on MTN lines, and am the man responsible for the creation of sahara desert” became common in our everyday talks but not from nowhere, the Man who fears himself was behind the inventions.
Ugandans didn’t only look at Golola as some one joking but believed he is the only man who could walk the talk.
He always boasted of how he has never lost a fight in his career (no one had ever witnessed him fight any way). Lets go to the ring.
His first publicised fight was against South Sudan’s Kadir in an Africa Championship Kick Boxing tie at Hotel Africa and the turn up was average but Golola lived to his word finishing off his opponent in the second round. Chants of Golola, Golola were the order of the night from the fans.
Nevertheless, his win came under scrutiny with many critiques dismissing the authenticity of his opponent reffering to him as a lugage lifter from Arua Park.
Then came the Andras Nagy bout months later in the World Kickboxing title contest, marred by controversy, the Ugandan was declared winner but like it or not, Golola lost the fight fair and square. Controversy didn’t only end in the ring but even out side it as the battle for monies between Golola and his promoter then Kweli Production’s C.E.O Patrick Kanyomozi became the talk in the press.
Ugandans sympathized with the mortar mouthed Golola creating a scape goat for his loss but it emerged latter that Golola was wrong going against the contract. The two friends (promoter & fighter) parted ways but the truth had been known (that will be a story for another day).
His third chance was yesterday against Hungarian Mate Zsamboki and whoever still believed in Golola lost the faith in the man.
Without putting up any resistence, Golola succumbed in the 6th round and this meant a technical knock out. In all the six rounds, Golola did nothing but recieve punches and kicks from the technically gifted and trained Hungarian. Ugandans in attendances at Kyadondo and those watching on WBS T.V felt cheated and throw lots of insults at the man they once treasured.
Facebookers and tweeps didn’t spare him either. In the end, it was evident Golola Moses was a joking subject and not a kick boxer like he claims.
