Rugby Cranes renew rivalry with Kenya at CAR Cup

Uganda-Kenya rivalry has grown over the years across all sports’ disciplines. The Harambe Stars held the Cranes to a goalless stalemate last October in Namboole, denying the latter a slot at the just concluded Afcon. Uganda seemed to bring back joy as the Rugby Cranes ended Kenya’s six year dominance in the Elgon Cup. They won 19-16 on aggregate after a nerve-wrecking second leg at the RFUEA grounds, Ngon’g Road in Nairobi.

The two sides have known eachother so well due to the numerous engagements staged in the past two months. From the Bamburi Rugby Super Series and the England Counties’ tour, the sides have picked and learnt few lessons. They face off in one of the semifinals of the CAR tournament to be held in Tunisia next Tuesday. Uganda won the 2007 edition after beating hosts Madagascar in Antananarivo.
