URA waits for next opponent in quarters

URA FC have proved their prowess at the Cecafa Club Championships when goals by Sula Bagala, Erisa Ssekisambu and Robert Ssetongo saw them defeat AS Vita from DR Congo and qualified for the quarterfinals. After a boring first half URA found themselves behind 20 minutes into the second half, through Kazadi who had to capitalize on a defensive blunder to slot the ball home past Yasin Mugabi.

Mugabi had kept URA in the game on many occasions as his flexes and sharp vision denied the guest team. The tax collectors pulled matter level when Bagala just like kazadi capitalized on a defensive mix-up.

Simeone Masaba was pain in Vita’s defense as his enterprising runs from the right kept the Congolese at bay. But  also Sam Sekomi, Derrick Walulya and Patrick Munaaba was outstanding in defense.
Owen kasule and Oscar Agaba made sure Manko kawesa was not missed at the centre of the park. Alex Isabirye had to introduce Ssekisambu for Augustine Nsumba and the 2011/2012 the league champion with Express returned the favor with a beauty for a half volley on 78 minutes.
Super league footballer of the year Ssentogo sealed matter for Alex Isabirye’s side when he scored the third with a minute to full time to the delight of Isabirye. “Am happy am sure we have qualified, though we made a lot of mistakes but at least it’s ok.”

“Coming from behind to win against such a good side wasn’t easy but my boys showed a lot of character and am impressed,” Isabirye said. Currently on six points, Isabirye is yet to know his opponents in the quarters and still waiting to see if he will finish second or first in his group, which also has Simba and AS Port.
“Am yet to know our opponents and it’s from there that I will lay my strategy.” URA had won their first game against Simba 2-0 on Sunday, both goals coming from Feni Moses Ali.
