RETURN LEG – Ghana Vs Uganda, Aug 10-12.
Ahead of the return leg of the 2013 Africa Youth Championship qualifier against the Black Satellites of Ghana, Hippos Coach Paul Nkata dropped four players from the squad that entered camp on Wednesday evening at Kavumba Recreation Centre. The dropped players are midfielders Alex Tuliraba, Ivan Ssekaza, Hashim Ssempala and defender Hassan Wasswa.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Coach Nkata asserted the quartet is still part of the team but only wanted to concetrate on 23 players from which he will pick 18 to travel to Ghana. “They are still part of the team but we saw it necessary to leave them out for preparations ahead of the return leg against Ghana”, said Nkata before adding that the recovery of the URA FC duo of Yayo Lutimba and Said Kyeyune (Both missed the first leg) from injury also played part.
“We have also got Yayo Lutimba and Said Kyeyune back in contention and we expect to have Geoffrey Kizito in the team. This offers the team with many options in midfield”. The Hippos beat Black Satellites 3-1 in the first leg at Nakivubo Stadium and just need to avoid a loss of more than one goal to advance to the final round qualifier to face either Gambia or Morocco. The finals will be hosted by Algeria next year.
