Kololo, Mwiri renew rivalry at Pepsi Schools' Cricket Week

When you talk about boys’ schools’ cricket, one cannot afford to leap over the names Kololo SSS and Busoga College Mwiri for the two have a lot of history and pedigree. Evidently, the pair have shared 16 of the last 18 crowns. Kololo defeated Mwiri to retain the title last year and are determined to take it for a third time in a row. “We are much prepared to lift this year’s trophy” skipper Moses Kitara told Kawowo Sports.

Despite losing Derrick Bakunzi to contenders Mukono Parents and Collins Abong to Mwiri, Kitara vaunts his side will come off victorious. “We are not worried, we’ve gone through the qualifiers without them, so game on” he added. Mwiri lost Arnold Otwani to Eastern region qualifier winners St. James-Jinja but team manager Rodney Mugisha has promised a comeback this year. “My boys have endured enough pain since 2009, it’s time to heal” The games start today at five different ovals in Lugogo, Kyambogo, Budo (2) and Makerere.
