Down to a two-horse race of old Rugby foes

Pool A: Heathens, Impis, Tigers, Kampala Select
Pool B: Rhino, Stallions, Kyadondo, Rams
Pool C: Kobs, Summerkamp, Mongers, Boks
Pool D: Lira Bulls, Buffaloes, Bootkamp, Pirates
Following a split of the first two titles in Entebbe and Makerere between DMark Kobs and MTN Heathens, this could be the pivotal bend. The third event of what has been a thrilling circuit thus far is set for Legends Rugby club, formerly Kampala ground today. The winning team will strike a telling blow. There is only one tournament to come at Kyadondo ground next Saturday before a new champion is decided.
Heathens are drawn in pool A alongside 2010 champions Makerere Impis, Engasol Tigers and Kampala Select. Their ability to win a fifth title in seven years received a major boost as they annihilated Rhino a one-sided final last Saturday. Enroute to earning maximum points, Heathens edged Kobs 12-5 in the semis through tries from Scot Oluoch and Jonathan Onen.
Kobs, who need Lawrence Wakabi to lift his game, face their understudy side Boks, Summerkamp and Entebbe Mongers in pool C. Lira Bulls, the most cheered team after the first two weekends, are in pool D with Toyota Buffaloes, Bootkamp and G4S Pirates. This tournament is played of former Kobs chairman – the late Edwrad Kitaka. He is widely credited for the growth of rugby here.
