Namuwongo Blazers secured a well-deserved 76-50 victory against CityOilers in the National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The Blazers came into this game after falling to Rezlife Saints in the midweek show but the response was worth the waiting.
It was a slow start to the game as both sides played two minutes and thirty seconds without dropping a basket.
Joel Kayira’s turnaround jump shot got the game underway before Edgar Munaba’s Eurostep in a 4-0 run.
Tonny Drileba’s long effort beyond the paint gave the Blazers a two-point lead with three minutes to play before Peter Obleng’s dunk lit up the Arena.
At the end of the closely contested frame, the Blazers leaned on a narrow two-point lead.
Titus Lual’s dunk got the second quarter underway before Ivan Muhwezi responded with a tough 3-point jumpshot to give the Blazers’ corner a reason to jubilate.
Fayed Baale dropped back-to-back threes as the Oilers kept the fight closed midway through the second quarter. At the end of the frame, the Blazers had a six-point lead.
Coming from the halftime break, the City Oilers were limited to only nine points as they trailed by 15 points going into the final frame.
Kasereka Tembo got the final frame underway with a 3-point step back jumpshot before Edgar Munaba responded in equal measure.
Jonathan Komagum’s bad day in office turned in frustration before he was called for an unsportsmanlike foul.
At the end of the day, the Blazers walked away with a 26-point victory.
Arthur Wanyoto (12 points), Fataki Nyembo (12 points) and James Okello (10 points) led the Blazers in double digits.
On the other hand, only Fayed Baale (11 points) reached double digits.
