National women’s sevens’ coach Anthony Kinene finally named his 12 players who will play at the 2013 World cup qualifiers due September 29-30 in Morocco. Only skipper Charlotte Mudoola and five others who were part of the 2009 world cup team in Dubai survived the cut. And unlike the 2008 qualifiers at the Kyadondo RC, the experience is already an advantage to the travelling side.

“Experience is usually the defining factor that is the players have more skills, better awareness of the game, better training regimes and we are better conditioned,” Helen Buteme, who played four years ago, told Kawowo Sports. “But we are gifted with speed in our ranks and we can do it,” Buteme, who has quickly recovered from knee and ankle injuries, added.

Trio Emmanuella Oroma, Hellen Gizamba and Matilda Tino will be playing in their first 7s tournament for Uganda.  Beatrice Atim (Entebbe Sharks) missed out due to knee and back injuries and she was unable to recuperate in time. Rachel Kakaire (Thunderbirds), Harriet Kayonjo (Thunderbirds) and Josephine Namayega (Black Panthers) did not make the cut.
