SC Villa 3-2 Masaka LC
The second fixture of the Bell Uganda Super League took three breaks as the flood lights at Namboole stadium were ever on and off. Lucky enough, the SC Villa-Masaka LC clash at Namboole this evening finally came to an end with the former taking the lion’s share.
Villa, who finished fifth last term, took the lead on 20 minutes with Darius Kiwalabye converting from 12 yards after a foul on youngster Paul Musamali. There was a power cut off four minutes to recess and many fans left the stadium in anguish. But the lights got back and Mike Kamya grabbed the equaliser in the 58 minute. Masaka were on top of things just four minutes later with a goal from Edward Makumbi.
The pressure mounted on Villa but the 16-time record league winners responded in the 79th minute through Allan Kizza. Arthur Semazzi, a new signing from Police finished the job for Fred Muwema’s boys in the 86th minute. Unlike last season when they started on a low, Villa look to vie for top position if they carry on with the fighting character all season.
Villa top the Bell USL table with three points while Maroons, who opened the season against league holders Express, are second. According to a statement released by the USL competitions committee, Water plays Victors at 2PM while new comers Kiira Young play Bunamwaya at Namboole two hours later tomorrow.
