Zain Forex beat 11 other sides to win the two-week Pakistan Cricket League (PCL) on Sunday. Captained by Ali Raza, they edged out rivals Yuasa by four runs in an eight-over thrilling final that climaxed the tournament’s first edition.
Forex, who had earlier defeated Jounda by 25 runs in the semi-final, set 81 runs for a five-wicket loss in eight overs with Raza scoring 47 runs. Uganda national team bowler, one of the few native cricketers in the tourney earned Forex the hard fought victory in the second innings.
He won the man-of-match trophy after denying Yuasa the required 11 runs in the last over. He picked two wickets for 19 runs. That victory came with a trophy and a Shs.3m cash prize. Yuasa, who had topped group A with 10 points settled for Shs.1.5m.
