
Close to 200 golfers from all over the country have set their eyes on the fourth edition of Kakira Golf Open Championship that swings into action on Friday with the professionals and then on Saturday with the amateurs at the Jinja Golf Club.
Kakira Sugar Works has sung a total of Sh40 million into this two day Uganda Golf Union event that has also attracted a total of 19 professional golfers from Kampala,Jinja and Entebbe who will be battling for sh5 million.
“We expect close to 100 amateur golfers from Mbarara,Kilembe,Fort Portal,Kinyara,Entebbe,Kampala,Lugazi,Mbale,Tororo and Jinja clubs,” Robert Otile, the club captain of Jinja said.
There lots of prizes to be won in Men and Ladies categories and the local organising club Jinja will have a greensome round on Friday for players who would like to warm up with a prize for the winner.
National amateur golf players expected to take part include Entebbe’s Willy Kitata,Henry Lujja,Patrick Mwaka,Patrick Mugisha others are Fort Portal’s Adolf Muhumuza,Lawrence Muhenda,Joseph Chinwinyai,Richard Baguma,Daniel Baguma,Jinja’s Ronnie King and Conrad Acaye.
