It is five days since Tornado picked a two-wicket victory over Wanderers to not only lift this year’s men’s Division One Multiple Industries League but crown the season.
And the players’ focus has already returned to national team engagements. Under the guise of coaches Martin Suji and Steve Tikolo, the 18-man squad with have two trial games at the University Oval in Kyambogo.
A total of 90 overs will be played per day with time spent on the crease and scoring runs will not being the most important factor.
“Our batsmen will be aiming at staying on the wicket for longer periods,” Davis Karashani, the national team skipper said.
“We are good in most of the departments but this is the area (batting) where we have to improve.” Karashani added.
The national team is in preparations for the ICC World Cricket League Division III tournament slated for next year in Bermuda.
Eslewhere, several players were selected from the Schools’ cricket week to the men’s U-19 side and will have a chance to prove their in a trial game at Jinja SS oval today.
This understudy side is set to take part in the World Cup Qualifiers for the African Region set for May next year.
