You always have to beat the best in order to be the best, it’s often said. Ugandan tennis player David Oringa believes he is ready to take on any opponent as the Burundi International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures main draw tournament gets underway on Monday.
He will be pitted against one of the other 31 male entrants when the singles main draw of the tourney takes place today. This comes after he defeated Dustin Goldenberg, an American to qualify for the last 32 stage of the singles.
“Let anyone come, I am ready for the challenge,” he said. And irrespective of the opponent’s backgrounds, the 19-year-old has less to worry and he insists that all his focus in on the court.
“Like I said, the court will decide it all,” the youngster added. He needs to first beat these 31 players to join the main draw of 32 that has a staked prize of 10000US dollars (Shs.25m).
