Wednesday fixtures
Serie B: Mulago v Cubs
Serie A: Nkumba v Nemo Stars
Nemo Stars Volleyball Club go into Wednesday’s game four of the National Volleyball playoff finals against holders Nkumba with a mission of avoiding a game five. Nemo lead the series 2-1 and victory today will land the side their first league title.
Power attacker and skipper George Aporu saw his team bring game three from the jaws of defeat to take it 3-2 (25-14, 25-20, 24-26, 22-25, 12-15).“Coming from two sets down was a sign to show that we can go through the series easily,” said Aporu.
“We are going to play like it’s our last game and hope to have the last laugh at the end of the day,” he added. Nemo also welcome back coach Anthony Ndawula who has been on a weeklong coaching course in India.
The last time he was in the dugout Nkumba trounced Nemo 3-0 to level the series 1-1. “His presence is a boost for a team that has been working already,” Aporu said.
Nkumba are not ready to just hand over the title to Nemo as Jensen Chestit claims they have learnt enough for the three times sides have meant in the finals. “It’s ours to lose, we know their weak points and it’s those we are going to turn into our strength,” said the gigantic attacker.
Serie B finals are the other interesting ones as Mulago now trail Cubs 2-, if their game three is anything to go by, the former is not ready to go down without a fight.
