 Serie A: Nemo Stars 3-1 Nkumba

 Women: Ndejje 3-0 KAVC

 Nemo Stars Volleyball club on Wednesday claimed their firs league title after they defeated former champions Nkumba 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) to win the best of five series 3-1.

 Nemo looked impressive in their attack, which was complemented by the intelligence and awareness of setter Smith Okumu.

 Nkumba looked ordinary as Dickens Otim Mohamed Agiro struggled in their reception and attack.

 It was Okumu’s short balls for George Aporu and Hussein Gharelnabi that made Nkumba’s block turn against them. Louis Mubangizi as always operated from out and never disappointed 

 “It’s a young side that played according to instruction and that’s what made them come out on top today,” said Nemo coach Anthony Ndawula.

 It was Ndawula’s first game in charge of the side since returning from a level three FIVB coaching course in India.

 Ndawula’s last employers were Nkumba, his apprentices Albert Gayi and Tony Lakony indeed bowed down to the master.

 “Volleyball is played with your brain and today we failed to use ours,” Lakony said.

 KAVC cubs also beat Mulago 3-0 in game four to take the series 3-1, but both sides qualified for the serie A next season.

 Attention will return to the transfer window, which starts in January 2013.

 And the quest for eligible candidates ahead of the elective assembly on January 13 2013.
