It will take a little longer for Dickens Otim and Ambrose Otwao to get contenders to their East African Beach volleyball Circuit crown.
At least not for the next 365 days as they defeated the Burundian pair of Briand Mugabowinga and Yvan Dukudane 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-10) to win the circuit for the third year running.
The Ugandan duo is coming off from along disappointing indoor volleyball season that saw them lose bragging rights to the league title to Nemo Stars.
Otim’s spikes were too much for the young stars who never accepted to go down without a fight as they also won important points in similar fashion.
“They were deserving finalists, who understand each other, but we were the better side on the day and that’s why we came out on top,” said Otim.
Mugabowinga and Dukudane are African junior Champions and despite the loss the pair played like one that has a future in the sport.
“The fact that we have won it three times in a raw show that we are number one in East Africa,” Otwao added.
“We came into this game giving each and every opponent we played as am sure it’s the secret to our success” he added
Uganda took Gold and Bronze while Burundi walked away with Sliver.
