*Uganda won gold, Silver and Bronze

Sharon Pajije and Vivian Aketch defeated fellow Ugandans Alice Aketcho and Sophie Nuwabigaba 2-1 (13-21, 21-12, 15-12) to win their first Club International Beach Volleyball Circuit.

Being an all-Ugandan final, did not have anything for the fans to look out for but Aketch and Pajije, it was imperative in every sense of the word.

The two were in the final for the first time, despite winning many local circuits as a team.

Going down in set one did not deter them from fighting to lift themselves up in the scorching Lido Beach sand.

Aketcho and Nuwabaga struggled as endurance took it came into play as they struggled to keep up with their opponents’ game plan.

“Am really excited because we came from a long way to win this,” an excited Pajije said.

“We came from a hard quarter final and semi final, we knew this tournament was ours,” she added.

The pair defeated Hasfa Nakalema and Prossie Alobo 2-1 in the quarters.

“It wasn’t a simple journey but we were more composed than the people we defeated,” Aketcho commented.

Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Tanzania took part in the two day event.
