In what is expected to be an entertaining game, four time winners Ethiopia take on debutants South Sudan at Namboole in the opener for the Cecafa Tusker Cup 2012. The two sides are in group A alongside defending champions Uganda and five time champions Kenya in what is arguably the group of death.
Coach Sewent Bishaw however has a second string side at his disposal to pick his team after the Ethiopian Football Federation opted to summon at least two players from each league club so as to ensure continuity of the season.
Midfielder Yared Zenabu, of Ethiopian league champions Saint George, who is the only player in the squad who contributed actively in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifying campaign is expected to be the key man.
South Sudan Coach Dorjdevic admitted recently that although his boys are excited about the tournament, they are not in good shape to compete but against a weakened Ethiopian side, anything is bound to happen.
The key players for the Bright Stars in today’s encounter are Hilal Khartoum’s goalkeeper Juma Genaro, together with Richard Justin and James Joseph who both netted in the draw against Uganda in July.
