Uganda’s top lady golfer Flavia Namakula, found the going tough as she started her first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters yesterday with a gross score of 94 on the opening round of action. Namakula started off with two bogey’s on the the first two holes on the front nine then had a par on hole 3, but she couldn’t maintain a solid run afterwards with double bogeys on hole 4 and 5. The UPDF soldier is making a debut at this tournament on special invitation by her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The Uganda Ladies Open winner then had a par on hole 6 then a bogey and double bogey on hole 7 and 8 and then she concluded her front nine tussle with a bogey on the last hole ending with a score of 48.

She then started the back nine with a par on hole number 10 and a double bogey on the next hole. Hole 12 she had bogey then the next two holes she had pars. It is the first major professional golf tournament that the Ugandan ace golfer is taking part and is using it to switch her game from amateur to professional. Namakula then had a bogey,double bogey on hole 15,16 and a par on 17 and bogey on 18 to end with a total of 46 on the back nine.
