Ugandan kickboxing champion Ronald Mugula has finally revealed his next opponent two months after he knocked out Andreas Naggy.
Speaking to Kawowo sports media on line today, Mugula said his fight in defense of his European title achieved in the 67kg category will be against Albanian-born German, 26 year old Valdet Gashi in May, on a date yet to be set.
But Kampala will be the venue that will be the decider for a ten round bout. Valdet Gashi weighing 69kg, has had 119 card fights, won 71 and lost 48.
In September he fought Mugula’s trainer Thilo Schenider in Germany but lost by decision after ten rounds.
Mugula who is currently residing in German was also rumoured to fight on Boxing Day here in Uganda, but he declined to make any such confirmation. “I cannot confirm that but I will be focused on the Valdet match in May. He is better than Nagy, at least that I know.” Said Mugula.
Early last month, Mugula was reported to be under pressure from a group of fans, to reveal his next challenger, after he silenced Andreas Nagy-Golola’s previous tormenter before Mate Szamboki.
The well built Mugula has since won the admiration of a number of fans and might as well be in contention for local honours with the likes of Titus Tugume come next year.
