2012 London Olympic marathon gold medalist Steven Kiprotich will compete with World boxing Champion Joseph Lubega and rally driver Jas Mangat for the sports personality for the year.
Kiprotich won Uganda’ first Gold medal at the London game after 40 years of the country’s waiting.
Both Kiprotich and Lubega were voted as the best athletic and boxer of the year respectively.
Uganda motocross team, Rwenzori Warriors, Rugby Cranes, Express FC were nominated for the team of the year category.
Footballer Sekagya was voted footballer of the year for guiding Red Bull Salzburg to their 2011/2012 Bundesliga title and the 2012 Austrian title.
Tendo Mukalazi was voted as the swimmer of the year were he beat sister seven year old Kirabo Namutebi
The sports personality of the year will be on January 19 at imperial Hotel in Kampala.
