A lot is set to change on the men’s national senior cricket side after they recruited new players from outside borders as they seek to find their way to the ICC Division II.

All under the initiative of local body Uganda Cricket Association (UCA), two new faces in Khaalid Mothoosmany and UK-based Shaaiq Choundry Hussain have been the latest recruits.

Both players hold strong Ugandan roots. They were added to the final 16-man team that will travel to Dubai for five 50-over games and two T20 games against hosts United Arab Emirates from January 18-27.

“I am happy on getting this opportunity,” said Mothoosmany, who has played most of his cricket in Gauteng, South Africa.

The 28-year-old can bat, bowl as well as wicket keep for the national side. He arrived late last week and has taken part in the last training sessions.

Meanwhile, Hussain took a 15-hour flight and arrived in the country at midday on Tuesday. He missed the trial game with coach Davis Turinawe’s U-19 boys but took part in a few drills with coach Martin Suji.

The national Cricket team is set to depart Thursday as they seek to find the life line before they embark on Africa T-20 World Cup Championship in February here and the Bermuda Pepsi ICC Division III League due April – May.
