Uganda’s Champions League ambassadors, URA FC registered a morale boosting 3-2 victory over non league side, Azam at a bumpy playground in Bweyogerere, ahead of their return leg engagement with Cameroon’s Cotton Sport on Saturday at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Kampala.

Yayo Lutimba, Ssekisambu Erisa and Benson Ociti helped the taxmen win the round of 64 Uganda cup encounter to book a round of 32 date with last year’s league champions, Express, who overcame Corporate XI team by 2 goals to nil.

Shortly after the game, the team travelled to Jinja, where they will be based for a residential camp. The team will however make it to Kampala again on Thursday for a double training session at Namboole Stadium. A top URA FC official explained that basing in Jinja was looked at as a way of giving the players a breather off the city disturbances. “We shall have the last training in Namboole and drive back to Jinja, where we shall come direct for the match”, the official said.

Meanwhile, in other Uganda Cup fixtures, Kampala City Council Authority registered the biggest win of the evening with a 7 nil drubbing of Bweyogerere. Strikers, Tonny Odur, Mike Birungi and Eddie Mubiru registered braces apiece before an own goal sealed Bweyogerere’s fate.

SC Villa’s Ronald Muganga and Steven Bengo Strikes helped the Jogoos beat another non-league side, VCC 3-1 at Nakivubo. Simba received a walk over after L-Best failed to travel to the Bombo Army Barracks for the match.

In the two FUFA Super league games played, Entebbe F.C were given a baptism of fire after Joseph Kayiira and Innocent Alimansi’s strikes propelled Water a rare 2-0 win in as many games. The game was played at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium.

The Vipers-Victors game ended goalless.
