ENPPI (Egypt) 3-0 Gor Mahia FC (Kenya)
Kenya’s representatives in the 2013 Confederation Cup Gor Mahia have a mountain to climb in order to reach the second round of the competition after being humbled by Egypt’s ENPPI 3-0 in the first leg of the first round clash played in Cairo.
Logarusic’s side conceded on the half hour mark when Ivorian Vincent Die Foneye found the back of the net. Five minutes later, Ahmed Omran added a second to give the Egyptian side a 2-0 half time lead.
After the break, Gor Mahia tried to pile pressure on their hosts in search for at least an away goal but wasted numerous chances and were made to pay the price when Ahmed Raouf got a third goal for the hosts with five minutes left on the clock.
The 2012 FKF Cup winners will now need to overturn the defeat by winning 4-0 in the second leg in Nairobi or at least score 3-0 goals to send the game into a penalty shoot-out.
Uganda Cranes striker Daniel Sserunkuma who is yet to find the back of the net this season started the game but could do little to save his side. Ivan Anguyo also played the game.
The two sides meet in the second in a fortnight.
