Super 8 Playoffs

Sadolin Mongers 34-13 Mutoni Summerkamp

X-fm Impis 17-10 Rhinos

Entebbe Mongers’ stadium, “The House of Pain” is a dreaded playing ground that every opposition trembles prior games. With a very hard surface, punctuated by bare patches, a relatively smaller playing pitch and an ever Intimidating 16th man in the stands, the opponents seldom acclimatize to such playing conditions in a record time.

The Sadolin Mongers again maximally utilized her home advantage in great fashion with yet another convincing 34-13 home victory over the league’s whipping boys Summerkamp in a Nile Special Super 8 league play off fixture on Saturday.

During the weekend fixture against the relegation bound Mutoni Construction Company sponsored Summerkamp Warriors,  the cool breeze that blew off Lake Victoria carried forth yet another barrier that many Entebbe residents are accustomed to in the name of lake flies that gave the players and fans alike a difficult visibility moment.

Predictably, the Mongers’ players adjusted fast to the ‘harsh conditions ‘of the day but the Visitors shockingly drew the first blood as early as the 4th Minute with an Owen Van Romeo try that stunned the partisan crowd. David Otwi missed the resultant conversion.

Monger’s left footed Kicker, Adrian Wasswa immediately replied with two well converted penalties to put the Mongers in the lead for the first time in the game. With both teams clad in brand new jerseys, the fans were given a real taste of flowing rugby as the two teams passionately played for the victory.

Jackson Waako Erukana made a flying try in the 25th minute for the home side, much to the delight of the lively fans, who also had lucky ones win cash courtesy of the sponsors in the kick for cash competition.

Adrian Wasswa’s kicking boots were at it again with a beautiful conversion off an acute angle to give Mongers a comfortable 20-5 lead before centre Referee, Peter Kirunda called for halftime.

John Wandicho and 2011 Rugby Union player of the year, Andrew Olwenyi scored Monger’s other tries that Man of the Match, Adrian Wasswa converted before David Otwi’s try and Collin Openth’s conversion saved face for Summerkamp to give the final score line of 34-13 a decent look.

“Am happy for my teammates, we have really worked hard. Let’s wait for our next opponent”, said the soft spoken and shy looking Adrian Wasswa , who was voted man of the match for his kicking expliots.

On a sad note, SummerKamp player Musisi Henry got an injury and an ambulance rushed him to St Mary’s Medical services in Entebbe for further medication.

In the other game played at Makerere University, the home team,  X-fm Impis were 17-10 victors over Rhinos in a low scoring game where  Raymond Kasule and James Musitwa  starred. Impis’ Andrew Kasansula was voted the man of the match.

The results from the two games imply that Sadolin Mongers will play host to X fm Impis in the final play off to determine the fifth placed team in the league whereas Rhinos entertains Summerkamp to determine the 7th and 8th placed teams.
