East African Breweries Company Limited under the brand “Pilsner” have acknowledged to sponsor this year’s National Pool league with a massive sponsorship boost of over 200 millions.

The money will facilitate match officials, equipment, cash rewards, refreshments, monthly best player plaques plus the general players and teams’ awards.”We are glad for Pilsner’s sponsorship support towards the development of pool in the country.

This will definitely increase the level of professionalism and competition among players and clubs”, Pool Association of Uganda President, Farouk Kisuze says.

Defending Champions, Skin Samona remains the team to beat as this year’s Pilsner League of Kings officially tees off on Saturday 23rd March 2013 at Katwe. Three pool Divisions and the ladies’ league will commence with 8 scheduled fixtures on board.

The Senior Pool league, with 16 teams including 4 newly promoted teams is likely to be more competitive after each side massively reinforced their squads with the finest players available on the market.

2012 Champions Skin Samona, who released Wasswa Kayiiya and Nyombi Denis on free transfer and brought back Lukwago Abdallah who has just returned from Holland, open their title defence with a date against Boat Pool Club, that was promoted from Pool League One last season.

Boat, which emerged third placed in Pool League One last season, has vowed to challenge any club in its fight for glory in the top league. The highlight of the opening day will be a game between hosts Takers, last year’s runners up against Game City, the 2012 Pool League One Champions at Katwe, the Takers Pool Club home ground.

The Pilsner League of Kings marks the beginning of the Pool Season with the next event, the Easter cup which is an individual event expected to take place on Good Friday. “As organizers, we are working tirelessly to improve standards and create an environment that brings out the best in players and better spectacles for the fans.

The 2013 season is expected to bring out the best in pool. We simply cannot wait for the action.” said Mawanda Michael, the PAU Publicist.
