Arthur Kyobe is a core element in the batting departments of Tornado Cricket Club as well as the senior national team.

The left arm batsman is an opener for both sides. Ahead of the crucial last stages of the National T20 League, Kyobe aims to improve on the willows – something that backs his club’s plan to defend the title.

“I have done well but its not the best yet,” Kyobe told Kawowo Sports.

The 24-year-old has managed 22 fours and two sixes to amass a total 150 runs from seven innings with a best of 46 runs against Patidar Samaj.

He is bettered by 20 other batsmen led by Tornado B’s Roger Mukasa who tallies 386 runs.

Kyobe is so far his club’s second best after opening partner Abubaker Seguya, who is tenth with 189 runs.

“I need to strike better. A ton would not only help my team but also build my confidence.” he said after a net session early this week.

Tornado plays Kutchi Tigers in one of the four quarterfinals this Sunday at  Lugogo oval.

National team coaches Martin Suji and Steve Tikolo target Kyobe as one of the batting prospects to keep Uganda’s chances bright at the World Cricket League Division III later this month.

Kyobe was Uganda’s best run scorer at the just concluded ICC Africa Division One T20 tournament hosted here in February.

He finished second behind Kenya’s Morris Ouma, with 221 runs littered with two half-tons, 12 fours and 11 sixes from eight innings.
