The old school adage ‘East or West, home is best’ eventually lived to pass yesterday as Uganda’s highest ranked Pool player, Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumisiriza returned to his former club, Skin Samona, which he prefers to call ‘home’.
The seed one player, who is also the reigning National Open Champion penned a three year contract with Skin Samona after agreeing to pocket Ug. Shs 1.5 Millions as a sign on fee.

“I am very excited to return to the home of pool in Uganda”, a visibly excited Gumisiriza, who recently lost the Easter Open Championships to another Skin Samona star, Fahad Ssewankambo, told Kawowo Sports.

Gumisiriza’s exploits on the pool table helped Game City/Mambule gain promotion to the elite league last season. He was released unconditionally by Game City and there has been a real scramble for the player between Scrap Yard and Skin Samona, that the latter finally won.

Black Sheep’s first task at hand is to help Skin Samona, last year’s Senior pool Champions, to climb up the table standings as they languish in an unfamiliar 6th position on 10 points, 5 short of the two joint leaders, Scrap Yard and Game City.

“We shall definitely use him for this weekend’s crucial games”, revealed Club Owner, Salongo Kasawuli Samona, who refused to reveal further financial details about the transfer.

Skin Samona travels to Kupa Pool Club on Saturday before hosting Nakawa Pool Rangers at the intimidating Pacify Motel, Wakaliga the following day in the Pilsner King of Kings National Senior Pool league.

Other interesting senior league fixtures will see Volts host Scrap Yard and Spice hosting Game City Pool Club.
The league one and women’s leagues will also run concurrently on the same weekend. Hot Pool Club leads the league one with 9 points whereas Skin Samona and Spice Pool Clubs jointly lead the women’s league on 6 points apiece.
