Pepsi Cola has batted 10 million shillings towards the Pepsi ICC Africa Division One U-19 World Cup qualifiers that swing into action this Saturday at Lugogo cricket oval, Kyambogo and Entebbe.
Uganda has appeared at two ICC Under 19 cricket World Cups, in 2004 in Bangladesh and 2006 in Sri Lanka.
Uganda hosted the inaugural tournament in 2001 and took on the hosting rights for this year’s edition following Kenya’s turning down of the offer to host it.
“Pepsi Cola is very excited to partner with Uganda Cricket Association in hosting the tournament here in Kampala as we believe cricket offers us a platform to bring life what the brand is about,” Timothy Luzinda, the Pepsi Cola brand manager said at the launch today at Lugogo cricket oval. “Pepsi Cola is optimistic that the sponsorship will help players to showcase their full potentials to the rest of the world as well as bring to life our new thematic campaign to Live For Now.”
Team Uganda is coached by Davis Turinawe and John Mayeku and will be skippered by Derrick Bakunzi.
