Ugandan born Yakan Lawrence still remains the most decorated Volleyball player to ever come out the country after guiding Etoile Sportive Da Seti to their maiden Algerian National Championship.

Etoile Sportive Da Seti beat 2013 Algerian representatives at the 32nd Confederation of African Volleyball Men’s Club Championship, Bourj Bou Arirrij 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-23) on Sunday evening. “Man it’s not simple to win when you are playing pro,” a joyful Yakan said

“Because you expect other teams to be far better than you,” he added. It was a historic win since Etoile Sportive Da Seti had never won the competition in Algeria.  “So given the win its really a great inclusion on my C.V.”

The Ugandan who turned Rwandan was also voted the Most Valuable Player of the final to add to his many individual accolades. “It’s not simple to be MVP more so when you are in a foreign country, but thanks to the Lord,” Yakan added.

Yakan a former Sport-S player locally failed to take part in the CAVB games in Tripoli last month because his team was getting ready for this tough season, finally it has yielded a trophy.

Yakan has been to six Confederation of African Volleyball Club Championships with four diffident clubs, National University of Rwanda, Kigali Volleyball Club, and Egyptian outfit Shams.
