National bantamweight champion Sande “Swico” Kizito, is not taking things lightly when he goes for the 10 round non-title bantamweight fight against Egypt’s Mohamed Ates this Friday at Kyadondo rugby ground in the Rwenzori Boxing gala.
“This will be my third attempt as I try to gain a position to win a title and I want to overcome the losses that I have suffered when attempting for titles,” Kizito said in an interview. “My moment again has arrived and I cannot allow this title to slip away from me and my fans.”
Kizito, has been a leader for a long while he was Uganda’s captain at the Sydney 2000 Olympics leading a boxing side that included his friends Jackson “Action” Asiku, Said Tebazalwa and Adam Kassim Napa. “All the lads I led in Australia at the Olympics in one way or the other have won titles here and their to me I have my regrets,” Kizito said. “I can assure my fans and all those that love boxing that I will win this fight and I will take him up to the eightheeth round.”
Kizito, goes into Friday’s fight with 14 wins, 10 loses, 1 draw and 9 KOS his North African opponent is 8 wins, 2 loses and 5 within the distance.
Rwenzori Water has sunk 70 million into that fight that is being promoted by Lash Media. The fight will be supervised by Africa Boxing Union president Houcine Houichi.
