As Uganda prepares to host the Africa Zone 5 volleyball championships, which will double as the Qualifiers for FIVB World Cup, to be hosted next year in Poland, strong men and women squads have been summoned.

The men’s national team trains every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the MTN Arena in Lugogo while the Women are training every Tuesday and Wednesday at International School of Uganda in Lubowa. 

The two day tourney that has already seen four countries Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and hosts, Uganda confirm participation will take place at the MTN Sports Arena in Lugogo on the 23rd – 24th July 2013. This follows the withdrawal of regional giants Sudan and Rwanda.

This competition will see the top three (3) teams qualify to compete in the Zone 5 and eventually qualify for the FIVB World Cup in Poland – 2014.

Meanwhile, Uganda will host its 3rd CAVB Course on 7 – 13 July 2013 in the MTN Arena.  ” This year  round we shall have a National Coaches Course to be conducted by FIVB Instructor Mr. Benard Denis with a participation fee of  only 30,000/=” says  Tonny Peter Lakony, the Uganda Volleyball Federation Technical Director.
