CAR semi-final Results:
Uganda 11-52 Kenya
Madagascar 18-32 Zimbabwe
Kenya proved the better team once again over Uganda in the Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) Group 1A fixture played at Stade De Mahamasima in the Madagascaran capital of Antananarivo.
When these two nations meet, the stakes are very high and it is like always a battle of a friendly fire-for It causes severe painful damage whilst serving you the intended purpose.
Kenya, fresh from registering a convincing Elgon Cup victory last month in Kyadondo proved they are a team to beat as they demolished and extinguished Uganda’s dream of booking a second consecutive final berth in the continental championships. Early signs of a Ugandan massacre were evident as early as the first 10 minutes as Kenya garnered quick points in succession and by the half-time score reading of 19-06, it needed a divine force to intervene and save the Pearl of Africa nation.
The divine forces never appeared as the white wash continued till the final disappointing score of 52-11 capped a miserable day at office for the Ugandan ruggers on the turf, in the stands, those in the country and the rest in the diaspora. “We still have a third place game, big up our neighbors, the struggle continues”, one fan sent a consoling message on the Ugfanzone facebook platform.
Kenya’s tries came from Edwin Achayo, Joshua Chisanga, Wilson Kopondo, Oliver Mang’eni, Brian Nyikuli, Andrew Amonde and Cyprian Kuto while Kenny Andola managed two conversions with Fabian Olando adding a third conversion with two penalties from Isaac Adimo. Entebbe Monger’s Andrew Olwenyi was the only name in the referee’s books for showing Uganda’s try.
Uganda, who are skippered by Michael Wokocrach now plays hosts, Madagascar, who lost to 18-32 to Zimbabwe in the other Semi-finals for the third place position on Sunday at noon before Kenya engages Zimbabwe in a cracker.
