Ex-Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson will for the first time appear in the dugout since he lost the Cranes job when his new employers Gor Mahia FC face Chemelil Sugar in a Kenya Premier League match this Wednesday at Nyao Stadium.
Speaking ahead of his debut, the 51 year old Scot who replaced sacked Croatian Zdravko Logarusic two weeks ago has admitted he lacks information about his opponents but insists his duty is to player his team well enough for the clash.
“Every match is important to the club and we have to work towards taking the club to the right direction. I don’t have enough information about our opponents but the most important thing is to prepare your team well enough for the clash”, stated Bobby.
“I said during the unveiling, I will be monitoring the players to see their potentials and get the best out of them and that has not changed”, he added.
Williamson will rely on Cranes striker Dan Sserunkuma who earned his debut under the Scot, Paul Kiongera, Edwin Lavasta and Ramah Salim for goals.
Victory for Williamson in his first assignment will lift second placed Gor Mahia to the top of the 16 team log with 29 points ahead of current table leaders Thika United (27 points) while fourth placed Chemelil can go second with victory of at least a two goal margin. They currently have 23 points.
In the other fixture of the day, defending champions Tusker FC visit Mathare United. Robert Matano’s side which currently lies eighth on the log with 21 points is expected to bank on leading scorer Jesse Were for goals with Ugandans Robert Omunuk and Aucho Khalid manning the midfield while Martin Kizza will marshal the backline.
Mathare are 12th with 16points from 15 games played.
