Six hundred athletes are expected to race in the third edition of the Kids of Africa ‘Run for Fun’ race that has expected to be flagged off at Kawuku-Bwerenga off Kampala Entebbe highway.
In this year’s edition, will have athletes competing in 5, 10 kilometers and a half marathon (21kilometers) as the marathon chief organizer Jason Edwards confirmed “The race will be held in Bwerenga just 4 kilometers off Entebbe road, athletes will go around the area with great view of Lake Victoria in 5km, 10km and 21km categories”. Edwards said.
“Fun for as many kids as possible is our team”. Edwards who doubles as the race’s director added. “We are very excited to introduce this year a half marathon and feel it is a great opportunity for runners to use it for training for the Kampala Marathon to held in November.”
Registration of runners is set in mid-August at Kampala (Game supermarket), Grand Imperial Hotel and hopefully in Entebbe at Golf club.
ROKO Construction, GAME and International Medical Group (IMG) are the main sponsors of the marathon whose winners will claim prize money ranging from Ush 150,000 down and vouchers to be spent at GAME supermarket.
