Thirty five sports film entries will be vying for gongs at the seventh Kampala FICTS International Sports Film festival that is set for August 13-15 at Seascallop restaurant, Kamwokya. The festival was officially launched today by the first vice president of FICTS federation Andrew Luwandagga, who also is the president for the FICTS Uganda Festival. “Uganda’s entries are gaining momentum at the World International Festival and it also gives them the opportunity to rub shoulders with sports commentators, producers, script writers and directors,” Luwandagga stated. “We believe soon or later we could have a winner at the World International Festival.” Leading the Ugandan entries’ list is a double production from Annet Nakamya(ex-national badminton player)of Uganda Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation supported by singer/playwright/actress Mariam Ndagire’s Trendz Studios,among others. Foreign entries are from Europe,USA, South America,Asia and Africa. Nakamya’s two-entry sports shows has Love Thy Game on the 2010 World Cup football final twin bombing Kampala tragedy plus Play of Hope that portrays a budding badminton star. Entries will be contesting for honours in six categories they include Sports Society,Documentary,Olympic Spirit,Sports news reporting,sports adverts and TV show.
