Guard, Adam Kakuru scored 22 points and handed out 3 helpers against 4 turnovers as Proline Heaters got their second win of the season on Sunday evening at the MTN Arena. It was Heaters’ win after slipping for twelve successive times since their opening game of the season.

Micheal Mukula added 8 points and Javan Odhiambo picked 12 rebounds to go with 7 points for Heaters (2-12) who overcame Nkumba Marines 56-50 to the relief of coach, Brian Wathum.

Marines (3-11) slipped for a fourth successive game and were led by forward, Wilson Otweyo with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Wynard Kigobe had 13 points and 9 boards. Emmanuel Nyabuto who has been stepping in at center in the last couple of games in Brian Sivachi’s absence scored 8 points and picked 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Miracle Eagles’ struggles continued when they faced second string Galaxy Falcons. Despite co-game high 18 points from Raymond Bukenya, Eagles (1-13) suffered a blow out 79-48 loss to Falcons bench that was led by last year’s most supportive player, Steven Tumwesigye’s 18 points and 11 rebounds. Sam Obol added 14 points for Falcons (7-5), Steven Omony contributed 11 points and Timothy Otim had 10.

Vegetarian were at the receiving end of Sudi Ulanga’s season high 30 points as UCU Canons pinned a 63-44 loss on the back of their third win of the season. Jonathan Egau and Joseph Chuma picked 12 and 11 rebounds respectively for Canons (12-2). Vinnie Jurua led Vegetarian (3-12) with 15 points and Bernard Okumu added 10.

In the women’s division, KIU Rangers shocked KCCA Leopards with a 50-42 win over the defending champions. Judith Nansobya scored game high 14 points and Florence Nanyonga added 10 points for Rangers (8-4). Flavia Oketcho scored 10 points for KCCA as they dropped their second game of the season and Rebecca Akullo added 7. A1 Challenge meanwhile beat Nabisunsa 66-36.
