Ugandan tennis ace David Oringa endured another painful loss to Rwandan Jean Claude Gasigwa at the ITF/CAT Rwanda Money Circuit on Friday. Oringa, 19, lost the men’s singles final to top seed Gasigwa in front of the latter’s home crowd at the Umbano Hotel Courts in Kigali. Seed two Oringa lost the first set 4-6, recovered to win the second 6-4 but crumbled to lose the third 7-5 set in a three-hour pulsating encounter. “I did my best but things did not go my way,” Oringa told Kawowo Sports. “I think I would have the game in my control if I had not lost the first set,” he said. “It is painful that I have not won any tournament this year.”

The 2012 Uganda Open winner added. For the experienced Gasigwa who has had his focus on Davis Cup this year, it was his fifth Circuit title. Not only that, Gasigwa added to his Uganda Open title he won this year after beating country mate Dieudonne Habiyambere at Kampala Club back in March. Furthermore, victory over Oringa was enough for Gasigwa to clear the misery he underwent when he lost the Kenya Open final to Ugandan Duncan Mugabe in June at the Nairobi Club courts.
