Ugandan Chess players led by Fide Master Harold Wanyama swept the top four prizes in the men’s category of the Dayster University Chess Championship held last weekend in Nairobi, Kenya.
Wanyama won the event unbeaten with 7 points out of a possible 7 and was followed by country men Haruna Nsubuga, Matthias Ssonko and International Master Elijah Emojong, each at 6 points out of 7.The best performing Kenyan player was Martin Oyamo with 5.5 points.
The ladies category was won by a Kenyan but Uganda’s Ivy Amoko and Joyce Kabengano tied in joint second position.
