The Federal Republic of German has donated various Sports Equipment to the Athletics Body and other sporting federations. The equipment includes a performance Diagnostic Machine,  Strength measurement device, water massaging machine, stop clocks, stamina and enhancing gadgets.

“Such equipment should be able to help our athletes perform better and excel in the different sporting events”, remarked UOC President, William Blick.

Speaking at handover ceremony of the equipment to the Ugandan Officials, Joachim Duster, the deputy head of mission at the Germany Embassy commended the Government of Uganda for the hospital relations between the two countries, the Uganda Olympic Committee and the National Council of Sports.

“Lets put the equipment into perfect use and the nation will benefit with great  results”, Duster said.

The Germany Government has for the past years assisted the Ugandan Government with human resource training, equipment support, and the on going plans of the construction of the High Attitude training center in Kapchorwa District, which is due to take effect with assistance of experts from Thailand.

Present at the same event were Gunter Lange, a Germany Sports Deevelopment expert whose four year reign expires at the end of October. About 10 medical doctors successfully completed a course in sports medicine and management and were awarded certificates of recognition by Duster.

Omara Apitta, the Commissioner of Sports alluded the German Government for the kind gesture.

“Coaches like Timothy Odeke (Basketball) and many others have benefited from the German kind hearts of educating our technical personnel. We got an electronic athletics timer courtesy of them and very many other things. Please kind up the spirit”, Omara said.
