Last Saturday’s showdown came to end as both the MTN Heathens and Top Fry Nakuru RFC had something to celebrate about. With the aggregate score finally tallying 32-18, the visiting Kenyan side,Top Fry emerged winners following their first leg thrashing of Heathens at Nakuru ,Kenya 23-3.

Uganda’s 2013 rugby league champions heathens also managed to revenge in this second leg as they punished Kenya’s Nakuru 15-9. A well taken 14th minute penalty followed by another handed Heathens an early six point lead.

A regrettable foul by Heathen’s Arthur Mukama seemed to have brought the Kenyan side back into the game as it was successfully converted. However,Heathens pressed on harder and just before half time, Micheal Wokorach made a try putting Heathens 9-3 ahead. Top Fry came back stronger and more solid in the second half earning a couple of kicks but as time ran out, Heathens picked up a late try which gifted them a slender second leg victory.

Heathen’s Coach Brian Tabaruka expressed discontent at the teams failure to make a comeback but also blamed the loss to the more physical game the Kenyans showcased. “They were way more physical ,and we need to step up in the strength and conditioning to beat them” he told Kawowo Sports.
