It was an eventful Sunday for Gor Mahia players, fans and managers across the region as the side were officially handed the Kenya Premier League trophy at Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.

Despite losing 2-0 to KCB prior to the trophy handover, Bobby Williamson and his charges had weeks before been declared KPL winners after the FKF appeals committee awarded them three points for an earlier abandoned match against Sony Sugars in September.

Ex-Kenya Prime Minister and presidential aspirant Raila Odinga handed the trophy to Gor Mahia skipper Jerim Onyango at the ceremony also attended by FKF Chairman Sam Nyamweya.

It was K’Ogalo first league trophy since 1995 ending an eighteen year league trophy drought.

Uganda Cranes duo of striker Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma and defender Israel Emuge were instrumental in this title win.

The diminutive former Express FC and Victors FC forward has netted seven league goals for the side this season and leads the club’s scoring charts while Emuge has been a mainstay at the heart of defence. On top of that, the ex-Express FC, KCC FC and Kiira Young centre back notched three goals.

Another Ugandan Ivan Anguyo also played a back up hole in the holding midfield position for the club.

Former Uganda Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson is the man who has won the title for the green army having attained top coaching position in mid season taking over from Croatian Zdravko Logarusic.
